Improving client usability

A day-care center customer had an Excel -based work-shift management system. Each week the children’s attendance information was collected from parents in the form of paper notes. The customer wanted to transform the Excel -form into web-based system, where parents would notify the attendance times on-line. The number of children present at any moment defines the require number of teachers. The system allows dynamic allocation of work shifts creating better efficiency, cost savings and security in Day Care centers.

Speeding up Database Cluster

The customer had MySQL based sotware that was having severe performance problems during peak hours. Our company identified the performance bottlenecks and re-structured the most critical parts of the PHP and Javascript -code and optimized the SQL -queries that were running slowly. After the most critical problems were solved, we designed a cluster setup that was physically set up by a third party server company. The resulting service can serve much more clients faster and architecture allows scaling up by adding hardware.

Creating Mobile accessible Video service

Football Association of Finland wanted to set up a video based service where each month new tricks of different difficulty levels were added. We created the graphical layout together with UI professional Nina Anttila. The videos of the service were converted automatically to 3GP format which is recognized by most mobile phones. The site automatically recognizeds user using mobile browser and shows a different version of the page for them.
